Job summary

The New Zealand Government, through DOC, is seeking a Purchasing Officer to join the Financial Transactions team for a six-month fixed term contract in Wellington.

You will manage purchasing workflows, including creation and amendments of Purchase Orders, handle the ticket queue, provide P2P process training, respond to supplier queries, and maintain data in SAP. The role emphasises accuracy, communication, and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated understanding of P2P process in SAP or similar ERP.
• Knowledge of purchasing or procurement principles.
• Admin/Data entry experience with high accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to build relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
• Highly organised; can meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving and quick learning of software.

Responsibilities

• Managing purchasing workflows including creation and amendments Purchase Orders.
• Managing the ticket queue and shared mailboxes for requests from the wider business.
• Providing support and training to the business around the P2P process and SAP.
• Responding to external queries regarding orders.
• Supporting the team with data maintenance in SAP.
