Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley is seeking a part-time, fixed-term Medical Oncologist to cover paternity leave across Wellington hospital campuses. You will assess, diagnose and treat cancer patients within a multidisciplinary team, managing systemic therapies and contributing to service development and teaching.

You will support equitable access to oncology services, participate in research and quality improvement activities, and align with regional cancer

Qualifications

• Vocationally registered in Internal Medicine (Medical Oncology) with MCNZ FRACP or equivalent and eligible for vocational registration.
• Sub-specialty expertise in melanoma, lung cancer and head and neck cancer is advantageous but not required.
• Work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to high standards of medical care and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients.
• Manage systemic anticancer therapies and participate in tumour stream MDT meetings.
• Contribute to service development, teaching and supervision of junior medical staff.
• Support equitable access to evidence-based oncology services across the district.
• Engage in research and quality improvement aligned with cancer priorities.
