Job summary

Altus Group is seeking a Financial Analyst to model, develop, test, and support Excel-based valuation tools for the global CRE market. You’ll design dashboards, support client reporting, and help shape new Excel‑based products with a focus on accuracy and usability.

Reporting to the Director of Product Management, you’ll work in a people‑centric, flexible environment that emphasizes training, growth, and collaboration across teams and client projects. NZ-based applicants preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Engineering or Economics.
• Advanced knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Excel.
• 1–2 years’ experience in analytics, product testing or CRE valuations is ideal.
• CFA qualification (any level) would be a plus.
• Full working rights to work in New Zealand.

• Deliver new features to Excel products, including payment schedules.

Reporting to the Director of Product Management, the Financial Analyst is passionate about modelling, software development, technology, and supporting employees.

As a Financial Analyst, you will be involved in developing, maintaining, and testing existing Excel products, including building detailed technical knowledge of the models and implementing product fixes. You will also participate in designing, developing, and testing new products, providing advanced technical support, and creating user‑friendly dashboards and insights for Excel and web‑based client reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and test existing Excel products.
• Build detailed technical knowledge of the existing Excel‑based Commercial & Residential models.
• Deliver new and enhanced features to existing Excel products, such as development, loan and equity payment schedules.
• Implement product fixes to ensure optimal functionality.
• Participate actively in new product scoping sessions, providing technical insights and expertise.
• Design and implement sophisticated automated testing procedures to ensure product quality and reliability.
• Assist with the development of new Excel‑based valuation models tailored to different real estate markets or sectors.
• Respond to and resolve advanced technical product support requests.
• Assist Sales representatives to demonstrate technical capabilities of existing products to potential customers.

Key Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, Economics or related field
• Advanced knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Excel.
• Ideally 1-2 years of experience in an analytical or product development/testing role, or in commercial real estate valuations, transactions, or modelling roles.
• CFA qualification (any level) would be a plus.
• Self‑motivated with a high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Must have full working rights to work in New Zealand.
