Job summary

Xero is seeking a Financial Accountant to deliver quality financial information and support the month-end close for a listed issuer. You will work across balance sheet reconciliations, technical accounting, and external disclosures while building relationships across the business to drive improvements.

Based in Wellington with flexible hybrid work, you will help automate processes, implement AI tools, and provide insights into financial results and equity schemes.

Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Accountant or working toward the designation.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.
• Ability to analyse financial results, identify trends and communicate findings clearly.
• Interest in process improvement and automation to reduce manual work.
• Curiosity about emerging tools like AI with sound judgment and validation.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support technical accounting and external disclosures for a listed issuer.
• Assist with audit support and half-year/annual reporting cycles.
• Identify process improvements and automation opportunities across accounting workflows.
• Collaborate with Finance, Tax, Treasury and FP&A to deliver insights.
