Job description

Queenstown Airport proudly connects our home with Aotearoa New Zealand and the world. We operate world-class infrastructure, provide strong aviation networks, and strive to deliver experiences beyond our customers’ and communities’ expectations.

Our vision is to be an innovative airport that people love to travel through, and the community takes pride in. To achieve this, our infrastructure investment programme delivers major capital developments to support our long‑term strategic plan.

The Position

We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner - Infrastructure Development to provide financial insight, support, controls, and cashflow forecasting across QAC's major infrastructure programme. Reporting directly to the Chief of Finance & Corporate Services and partnering closely with the Chief of Infrastructure and project teams, this role acts as the primary interface between Infrastructure Development and the wider Finance function.

In this critical commercial role, you will develop and monitor financial frameworks, provide robust financial challenge, and deliver value-for-money outcomes across project planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the lead finance business partner for the Infrastructure Development Programme, translating complex financial information into clear insights and recommendations for management and governance.

Support with the preparation of programme budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting, developing accurate cashflow forecasts aligned with corporate budgets and long-term financial plans.

Prepare and assess whole-of-life costs, risk allowances, and business cases to support Executive, Committee, and Board approvals, providing independent challenge to cost estimates.

Monitor expenditure, commitments, and cost trends, coordinating regular Estimate at Completion (EAC) cost reviews with quantity surveyors and delivering concise governance reporting.

Ensure technical accounting compliance across project data (including capitalised interest, labour, and asset commissioning) and act as the finance champion for the Sentient project planning platform.

About You

You are a self-starter with strong commercial acumen, professional curiosity, and the ability to provide independent and constructive challenge to project teams. You combine high attention to detail with exceptional analytical capabilities and a collaborative approach.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

A Chartered Accountant qualification (CA) through Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or an equivalent recognised professional accounting qualification.

A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce, economics, or a related discipline.

Significant experience in finance business partnering, commercial finance, or major capital programme/project finance.

Strong financial modelling, forecasting, investment appraisal, and cashflow management capability.

Demonstrated experience establishing or operating financial controls, governance processes, and executive/board-level reporting.

High level of proficiency with financial systems, reporting tools, and data analysis.

Desirable: Experience in an airport, transport, infrastructure, construction, utilities, or property environment, alongside familiarity with project management systems like Sentient.

Why work for us?

We’re a small, collaborative organisation with ambitious plans, so you’ll be close to the action, have the opportunity to make a tangible impact, and work alongside people from right across the business.
