IAWAI - Flowing Waters is recruiting for a field sampling technician in the Waikato region. You will begin at the Pukete laboratory, prepare equipment, and drive to multiple collection sites to collect wastewater, surface, groundwater, and drinking water samples. You will perform field tests and document results carefully.
The role requires long daily drives, outdoor work, and flexibility to work weekends/public holidays. ISO QMS awareness and accurate reporting are essential.
Hamilton City and Waikato District Councils have formed a publicly owned, Council-controlled Organisation (CCO) to deliver water services across Hamilton city and Waikato district. The company is calledIAWAI - Flowing Watersand will take over the provision of water services from 1 July 2026. This transition will occur in stages such as the current Watercare contract for Waikato District Council transferring to the CCO on 1 July 2026.
You will start your day at our Pukete laboratory, preparing equipment and performing calibrations. You’ll then be working independently driving between collection sites within the greater Waikato region. At these collection sites you will follow procedure to collect water (wastewater, surface/source water, ground water, drinking water) samples and undertake field testing.
