Job summary

TDX in New Zealand is seeking a Field Service Technician to diagnose, service and repair construction equipment in the field and workshop. You will work independently with support from a local team in a market-leading, 100% New Zealand–owned business.

With 3+ years of heavy diesel experience, you will diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults, perform quality servicing, and communicate clearly with customers.

Qualifications

  • Trades qualification in heavy diesel technician
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
  • Ability to work independently in the field and workshop
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Carry out diagnostics, servicing and repairs on construction equipment in the field and workshop
  • Fault finding across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Provide clear communication with customers and team
  • Complete job documentation, reports and warranty paperwork accurately

The role:


Join TDX as a Field Service Technician and play a key role supporting customers across the region. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing construction equipment, ensuring customers receive reliable and efficient solutions.


This is a hands-on role suited to a skilled technician who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and delivering excellent customer service. You’ll work alongside a supportive team while representing a market-leading New Zealand-owned business.


Responsibilities include:


Carrying out diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on construction equipment in the field and workshop


Fault finding mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across a range of equipment


Providing quality customer service and clear communication with customers and the team


Completing job documentation, reports, and warranty paperwork accurately

About you:


Trade qualified Heavy Diesel Technician with 3+ year’s experience out of their time


Heavy Plant & Equipment qualified preferred but not essential


Strong mechanical and hydraulic diagnostic and repair skills


Ability to work independently in a field-based environment


Great communication skills and a customer-focused approach


Reliable, organised, and able to manage a busy workload


A proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
