Job summary

Nelson College for Girls invites an experienced and collaborative social sciences educator to lead the faculty. The role provides oversight and direction, supporting heads of subject to lead within their areas, while aligning with the college's vision and priorities.

You will foster a high-trust culture, maintain a strong focus on teaching, learner outcomes and culturally responsive pedagogy, and engage with the wider life of the school.

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative social sciences educator to take on the role of faculty lead - social sciences. This is a strategic leadership position providing oversight and direction across the faculty, while supporting and developing heads of subject to lead effectively within their specialist areas. The successful applicant will foster a high-trust culture, maintain a strong focus on teaching, learning and learner outcomes, and ensure the faculty is aligned with the wider vision and strategic priorities of Nelson College for Girls.

Applicants should be able to connect easily with young people and make learning relevant to life. Excellent communication skills are important as is the need to be flexible,creativeand organised.

As a classroom practitioner, you will have experience with providing rich learning opportunities at both junior and senior level with demonstrated practice of high expectations for ākonga and critical, culturally responsive pedagogy.

Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be involved in the wider life of the school are essential attributes for this role. On application, please state senior specialist subjects you are prepared to teach.
