This is a hands-on facilities and workplace role supporting the day-to-day delivery of facilities services across MPI. You will take ownership of the maintenance help desk, triage incoming requests and help ensure our people can work effectively in sites that are safe, well maintained and fit for purpose. You'll support the National Facilities Manager while providing day-to-day guidance to the Wellington Building Services team, with formal reporting lines remaining with their manager.
You'll work with colleagues, Regional Facilities Managers, and contractors across the country, coordinating maintenance activity and responding to issues both remotely and on site. The role offers plenty of variety, from overseeing reception and workplace requirements to arranging contractors, creating purchase orders, supporting office reshuffles, and attending facilities issues at Wellington sites when needed. You'll support team members and help establish what good facilities maintenance, workplace support and site upkeep look like in practice.
There is real scope to put your mark on this role. An early priority will be identifying and implementing improvements for the Wellington team, while supporting changes associated with the introduction of the Northern and Southern Facilities Managers. You'll have the experience to make practical decisions, introduce better ways of working, and help bring people through change.
Key responsibilities include:
You'll bring previous facilities or workplace coordination experience, with a practical understanding of delivering effective workplace services and supporting day-to-day facilities operations. You'll be confident working under pressure, making sound decisions and communicating clearly with customers, contractors, and stakeholders. Strong administration skills are important, including intermediate Excel capability and experience using AI tools to support and streamline administrative tasks.
You’ll be organised, adaptable and comfortable providing guidance to others while building positive working relationships across the organisation. You’ll bring a continuous improvement mindset and look for practical ways to improve service delivery, workplace experience, and operational efficiency.
You must hold a current full New Zealand driver licence, or equivalent full foreign driver licence, including any endorsements required for the driving undertaken in the role.
You do not need to meet all of the role requirements to apply. We offer a breadth of development and learning opportunities and will welcome an application if you think you could make a great fit.
