Job summary

Access Community Health is seeking Kaiāwhina / Support Workers to provide safe, respectful, person-centred support in clients’ own homes in the Hawke’s Bay region. No qualifications or prior experience required; comprehensive training is provided.

We offer flexible hours to fit life commitments, weekend shifts with generous allowances, and paid travel time and mileage as you support people in our communities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates empathy and a people-first mindset.
  • Ability to adapt to varying care needs and schedules.
  • Commitment to culturally safe, respectful support for diverse clients.
  • Willingness to learn and adjust approach by client preference.
  • Own a smartphone and have valid NZ work rights.
  • Hold a current driver’s license (full/restricted).
  • No formal qualifications required to start (training provided).

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, respectful, person-centred support in clients’ homes.
  • Assist with daily living activities and routine care.
  • Respect clients’ culture, values, beliefs, routines and boundaries.
  • Support clients to maintain independence and wellbeing.
  • Complete training and participate in ongoing development.

  • Flexible hours We’ll do our best to align your schedule with the needs of the people we support
  • Weekend shifts available (+$1.00 extra per hour)
  • Paid travel time and mileage —When you travel for work, we make sure you’re compensated fairly — including paid travel time and mileage for longer trips. Full details will be shared during onboarding.
