Job summary

OceanaGold is recruiting for a Jumbo Operator at its Macraes Underground Operations in Otago, New Zealand. This residential role requires you to live locally, with a 7 on/7 off 12-hour shift pattern and on-site facilities.

The position focuses on safe jumbo drilling, ground support installation and adherence to mine plans. We value extensive underground mining experience, especially with Jumbo drills, and a current First Aid certificate.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years underground mining experience, 5 on a Jumbo is preferred.
• Competence at installation of bolts and mesh and at boring headings, including declines.
• Experience with Spiling and SDA’s advantageous
• Experience as a Loader Operator and Development Charge Up.
• Current First Aid Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate Jumbo development drills to mine headings and install ground support.
• Ensure headings are mined to size, online and gradient.
• Ensure ground support installed to minimum standard or above.
• Undertake all tasks safely or stop the job.
• Markup faces to Mine plans and Memos and follow those plans.
• Promote a positive team culture, lead by example and mentor trainee operators.

Job Description

This is a residential role - live and work in the stunning region of Otago, New Zealand.

Our Macraes Underground Operations team are on the hunt for a Jumbo Operator.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Safely and efficiently operate Jumbo development drills in order to mine headings and install ground support as per mine standards
• Ensuringall headings are mined to size, online and gradient.
• Ensure all ground support is installed to minimum standard or above as required.
• Undertake all tasks safely or stop the job.
• Ability to accurately markup faces to Mine plans and Memos and follow those plans.
• As senior team members you will promote a positive team culture, lead by example and mentor trainee operators.
