Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Hamilton is seeking an experienced administrator to provide high-quality, confidential support to the District Chief Midwife, Midwifery Managers and Charge Nurse Manager, enabling effective governance and service delivery across maternity services.

The role requires a relevant qualification, at least 3 years in administration, and strong digital literacy, including MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years administration experience.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
  • High level of digital literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage competing demands, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the District Chief Midwife
  • Takes day-to-day direction from the DCM
  • Provides additional administrative support to Midwife Managers and the Charge Nurse Manager to ensure smooth operational functioning across maternity services
  • Operates in a fast-paced environment requiring excellent judgement, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information
  • Maintains efficient office systems, supports recruitment and payroll processes, and contributes to quality improvement activities
