Job summary

Auckland Council seeks an Event Operator to support a variety of civic, local and regional events across the city. This full-time fixed term role focuses on logistics, site setup, transport of equipment and on-time delivery.

You will work weekends during summer, manage stock, assist with pack in/out, and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers. A manual transmission driver's licence and 3+ years in event operations are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in event management and operational end-to-end delivery.
  • Physically fit with high level of manual handling.
  • Full, manual transmission driver’s licence essential; experience with larger vehicles is favourable.
  • Good geographic knowledge of city is desirable.

As an Event Operator, you’ll be responsible for supporting a variety of events within the community. The purpose of this role is to provide logistical and operational support as crew members in the delivery of civic, local and regional events.

We run a diverse range of events across the city including Movies in Parks, Music in Parks, CultureFest and more. These are focused on the community and giving Aucklanders' an enjoyable experience. We need an efficient operator to transport our equipment, manage the logistics of getting the events sites up and running in the right place and on time.

This is a full-time fixed term contract and due to the variable scheduling of the live events, weekend work will be required, particularly during the summer months. In this role you will either be preparing for live events, loading and unloading our vehicles or setting up at the event. You’ll also record stock movements, take down events afterwards and at times be working in the warehouse.

Provide logistical and operational support in the delivery of civic, local and regional events delivered by the Events unit and provide similar services for a negotiated range of events delivered for and by Maori Outcomes, local boards and Council supported community events.

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of civic, regional and local events, taking responsibility for specific areas of operational support including but not limited to, information booth management, stage management or AV operations.
  • Organise and provide pack in and pack out for assigned events and/or in certain circumstances work alongside leaders within the organisation offering support to our community which may fall outside the scope of “events” including emergency response or community outreach initiatives.
  • Provide transport and storage services of Auckland Council events equipment.
  • Provide event support for Event Organisers by taking on leadership responsibilities including but not limited to ushering, managing volunteers and contractors on site.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
  • 3+ years’ experience in event management and operational end-to-end delivery.
  • Evidence of relevant, recent and continuing job-related learning and development.
  • Previous experience in event operations is desirable but not essential.
  • Good geographic knowledge of city desirable.
  • Full, manual transmission current drivers licence essential - experience with larger vehicles is also favourable.
  • Physically fit as this job has a high level of manual handling.

Salary: Band E $71,379-$79,310 (depending on experience)
