Job summary

McCain Foods is seeking an Environmental Coordinator for our Timaru plant to drive environmental performance and support ISO 14001 activities. You will work with the Health, Safety & Environment team and site leaders to advance resource efficiency, emissions management and waste reduction, contributing to McCain's sustainability goals at a local level.

Qualifications

• A certificate, diploma or tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Management or a related discipline is desirable.
• Previous experience in an environmental, compliance, sustainability, manufacturing or operational support role is advantageous.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation, compliance requirements or environmental management systems is desirable.
• Exposure to ISO 14001 or similar management systems would be beneficial.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Confidence working with data, reports and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A genuine passion for sustainability and continuous improvement.
• Ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and support the Timaru site's environmental management plan delivery.
• Monitor and report on energy, water, waste, by-products and carbon emissions metrics.
• Support regional and global environmental sustainability initiatives.
• Coordinate environmental service providers and contractors for compliant service delivery.
• Assist with resource-efficiency projects reducing environmental impact.
• Prepare for and support ISO 14001 internal and external audits.
• Maintain permits, licences, consents and compliance documentation.
• Coordinate incident reporting, investigations and corrective action follow-up.
• Collect, validate and analyse environmental data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Deliver environmental awareness and training across the site.
