Job summary

Delta Utility Services, Cromwell, South Island, is seeking an Environmental Labourer to join the team and maintain amenity turf, gardens, cemeteries, playgrounds, and sportsfields. You will operate ride-on mowers, weed eat, spray, and perform basic mechanical maintenance on equipment.

This outdoor role requires practical hands-on work, a Class 1 driver licence, a commitment to health and safety, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Outdoor maintenance experience required with practical tasks.
• Valid Class 1 driver licence (W, T, R endorsements preferred).
• Commitment to health and safety and high standard of work.

Responsibilities

• Operate wide area ride-on mowers and perform lawn care.
• Weed eating and spraying as directed.
• General grounds maintenance for amenity turf, gardens, cemeteries, playgrounds and sportsfields.
• Basic mechanical maintenance on plant and equipment.

About the role:

We have an opportunity for an Environmental Labourer to join our team based out of Cromwell. This practical, outdoor role supports the upkeep and presentation of amenity turf, gardens, cemeteries, playgrounds, sportsfields, irrigation, litter collection, and other CODC assets.

Key responsibilities include operating wide area ride-on mowers, weed eating, spraying, carrying out general ground's maintenance, and completing basic mechanical maintenance on plant and equipment.

What you need to succeed

• Basic mechanical knowledge and a current, clean full Class 1 driver licence; W, T and R endorsements would be advantageous.
• A demonstrated commitment to health and safety.
• Dedication to completing every job to a high standard and in line with contract requirements.
• A courteous and respectful manner when interacting with the public.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to work reliably with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility to work the hours required to meet operational needs.
• The ability to prioritise tasks and meet agreed timeframes.
• The ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively.
