Job summary

WM New Zealand Ltd in Auckland seeks a visionary Head of Environmental Engineering & Consenting to lead our environmental engineering team in Redvale. You will oversee regulatory consenting, environmental assessments, and stakeholder engagement, steering projects from concept to consent while upholding NZ environmental legislation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in environmental engineering or environmental consenting.
• Proven expertise in NZ Resource Management Act (RMA) processes and consent applications.
• Strong knowledge of EIA methodologies and regulatory requirements.
• Experience managing environmental projects from conception to consent.
• Extensive stakeholder management with regulatory agencies and local authorities.
• Proven leadership of technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a team of environmental engineers and consenting specialists.
• Direct the preparation and submission of resource consent applications.
• Provide technical leadership on environmental assessments and regulatory strategies.
• Build relationships with regulatory bodies and project teams.
• Oversee environmental impact assessments and management plans.
• Establish quality standards for environmental work and consenting documentation.
• Monitor regulatory changes and adapt strategies accordingly.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.
• Mentor team members and support career development.
• Collaborate across departments to embed environmental considerations into projects.
