Job summary

Queenstown Lakes District Council is seeking an Monitoring, Enforcement and Environmental Officer to help protect the district’s environment while supporting sustainable development. The role combines regulatory advice, site visits, and investigating breaches to ensure compliance.

Senior Officer duties include mentoring staff and providing technical leadership. A tertiary qualification in planning, resource management or environmental management is required, with 5+ years in the field.

Qualifications

• The officer role requires a relevant qualification and experience in planning, compliance, environmental management or a related field.
• Senior Officer requires a tertiary qualification in planning, resource management or environmental management, with 5+ years of experience.
• Experience mentoring, coaching or developing team members is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor conditions imposed on resource consents and conduct site visits to ensure compliance.
• Respond to Requests for Service from the public and internal stakeholders.
• Provide regulatory, technical and enforcement advice in line with legislation and policies.
• Investigate alleged breaches and take enforcement action as required.
• Prepare and serve notices, infringements, permits and court documentation.
• Review Building Consent and Project Information Memorandums for District Plan compliance.
• Build positive working relationships with applicants, consultants, contractors and the community.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within Planning and Development.
• Senior Officer: mentor team members, provide technical leadership and coordinate workload.
