Job summary

New Zealand Blood Service in Wellington is seeking an Enrolled Nurse to join our donor services team. This 0.6 FTE, permanent role offers weekday shifts with occasional Saturday coverage, across Porirua and other Wellington locations.

You will provide donor care, education and health assessments in a supportive environment that focuses on patient outcomes. Applicants must be an enrolled nurse with current NZ registration and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Enrolled Nurse registration and current NZ practice permissions.
• Strong communication and written/verbal skills with donors.
• Ability to assess donor health and provide education.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity working in a unique part of the health sector, where although you are not working as part of a hospitals staff, you are still caring for people and making a huge difference to patient outcomes.

There is a lot more to being a nurse at NZBS other than just taking blood. Dealing with primarily well people gives a different perspective to a working day. You can say goodbye to night shifts as you'll be working Monday to Friday with the occasional Saturday.

This role includes two rostered shifts, with early and late morning starts. Shifts are 8 hours long, starting and finishing between 6.45am and 8:15pm.

The primary location of this role is in Porirua however the successful applicant must be flexible and available to work across all Wellington locations, including Newtown, Porirua, and mobile clinic sites.

About you and the role

As our donors regularly go out of their way to give up their time to donate blood, great customer service is key to ensuring they have an amazing donation experience that encourages their continued support. So to be successful in this role you'll be a great communicator with good written and verbal skills, vital for reassuring the donor every step of the way.

We welcome enquiries from ENs who will utilise their health assessment, critical thinking and reflective practice skills to contribute to all aspects of the collection of blood products and donor health education in our donor room collects. No phlebotomy experience needed! Let us train you!

Salary offered for Enrolled Nurses starting at $71,682 to $87,433 depending on skills, registration, and experience.
