Job summary

Aotea College in Porirua is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic Teacher of English (up to NCEA Level 3) for a full-time fixed-term appointment starting 28 January 2027 and ending 16 December 2027 (Maternity Leave). You will teach across years 7–15 in a modern, collaborative learning environment designed to foster creativity and engagement.

Qualifications

• Valid New Zealand teaching registration and current practising certificate.
• Experience or ability to teach English up to NCEA Level 3.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive pedagogy.
• Ability to contribute to a collaborative, professional learning community.

Responsibilities

• Teach English to students across Years 7–15, including wharekura as appropriate.
• Contribute to department planning, assessment, and curriculum development.
• Collaborate with staff to support student engagement and learning outcomes.
• Participate in school-wide professional learning and collegial activities.
