Engineering New Zealand Te Ao Rangahau is seeking an Engagement Manager, Groups, to lead a small team and foster strong relationships with volunteers and industry leaders across Aotearoa. Looking for a role where you can combine people leadership, strategic relationship management and meaningful impact? As Engagement Manager, Groups, you'll lead a portfolio that supports and connects engineering communities across Aotearoa while coaching a capable team and influencing outcomes that matter to the profession.

You'll work alongside some of New Zealand's most influential engineering volunteers and technical leaders, helping specialist engineering communities thrive, share knowledge and shape the future of the profession. This is a role for someone who enjoys building trusted relationships, navigating complexity and bringing people together to achieve shared goals.

In this role you'll:

• Lead and develop a small team through coaching, mentoring and capability building.
• Build trusted relationships with senior volunteers, committee members and industry stakeholders across New Zealand.
• Provide strategic advice, challenge thinking constructively and help stakeholders navigate complex issues and competing priorities.
• Oversee planning, budgets, reporting and service delivery across a diverse portfolio of technical and special interest groups.
• Identify opportunities to improve services, strengthen engagement and increase the impact of our Groups network.

We're looking for an experienced relationship leader who is confident working with a wide range of stakeholders and can lead with credibility, empathy and influence. You'll be someone who can build trust quickly, navigate challenging conversations with professionalism, and coach others to succeed.

You'll bring:

• Proven people leadership experience, with a strong coaching and mentoring approach that helps others grow and perform at their best.
• Exceptional stakeholder relationship management skills and the ability to work effectively with volunteers, members, committees and senior stakeholders.
• The maturity and judgement to positively challenge ideas, manage expectations and navigate difficult conversations while maintaining trusted relationships.
• Strong strategic thinking, organisational skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex environment.
• Financial confidence and the ability to interpret agreements, manage budgets and support sound decision‑making.
