Job summary

APM New Zealand in Invercargill is seeking an Employment Consultant to join our vibrant team. If you have experience in varied roles, customer service, recruitment, sales, or social services, we want to hear from you!

In this role, you’ll meet clients referred from the Ministry of Social Development, build relationships with employers and providers, and help jobseekers gain independence. You’ll travel across Southland, supporting the community with a people-first approach.

Qualifications

• Current full NZ driver’s licence.
• Experience in roles across recruitment, social services, sales or government.
• Keen to work in a community-focused setting.

Responsibilities

• Meet your clients referred from the Ministry of Social Development and focus on work-first employment pathways leading to financial independence.
• Create meaningful connections with local employers and partners to seize job opportunities for jobseekers.
• Get to know jobseekers, understand their stories, and build trust so you can help them gain mahi aligned with their goals.
• Help jobseekers upskill by identifying training needs and liaising with training providers to gain short course certification.

What You'll Do

• Meeting your clients that are referred from Ministry of Social Development and focusing on work first employment pathways leading to financial independence.
• Creating meaningful connections with local employers and businesses, government & industry/sector partners, disability support and other providers to seize golden work opportunities for our jobseekers.
• Getting to know your jobseekers, understanding their stories, and fostering trust so that you can effectively help them gain mahi. aligned with their goals, experience and strengths.
• Helping jobseekers upskill by identifying training needs for their chosen industry/sector and liaising with training providers to gain short course certification.

Your background

• Current full NZ driver’s licence
• Our Employment Consultants are selected from a wide range of careers - including recruitment, social services, sales, business development, government and industry.
• Life skills, enthusiasm to help people, grit & resilience, and the ability to bring the best out of people are key attributes we look for.
• You will need to be self-driven, even entrepreneurial in your approach.
