Job summary

APM in Invercargill is seeking an Employment Consultant to join our vibrant team. You will meet clients referred from the Ministry of Social Development and focus on work-first employment pathways that lead to financial independence.

This role involves building meaningful connections with local employers and partners to seize job opportunities for jobseekers. A driver’s licence is required, and our consultants come from diverse backgrounds such as recruitment, social services and sales.

Qualifications

• Current full NZ driver’s licence.
• Wide range of careers including recruitment, social services, sales, business development, government and industry.
• Life skills, enthusiasm to help people, grit & resilience, and the ability to bring the best out of people.
• Self-driven, entrepreneurial in approach.

Responsibilities

• Meeting clients referred from the Ministry of Social Development and focusing on work-first employment pathways leading to financial independence.
• Creating meaningful connections with local employers and partners to seize job opportunities for our jobseekers.
• Getting to know jobseekers, understanding their stories, and building trust to help them gain mahi aligned with their goals.
• Helping jobseekers upskill by identifying training needs and liaising with training providers to gain short course certificates.

What you'll do

• Meeting your clients that are referred from Ministry of Social Development and focusing on work first employment pathways leading to financial independence.
• Creating meaningful connections with local employers and businesses, government & industry/sector partners, disability support and other providers to seize golden work opportunities for our jobseekers.
• Getting to know your jobseekers, understanding their stories, and fostering trust so that you can effectively help them gain mahi. aligned with their goals, experience and strengths.
• Helping jobseekers upskill by identifying training needs for their chosen industry/sector and liaising with training providers to gain short course certification.

Your background

• Current full NZ driver’s licence
• Our Employment Consultants are selected from a wide range of careers - including recruitment, social services, sales, business development, government and industry.
