Job summary

APM New Zealand in Auckland is seeking an Employment Consultant to join our team for a fixed-term maternity cover of 7 months. You will draw on your customer service or recruitment experience to support jobseekers and connect with local employers.

This role emphasizes culturally responsive practice and the ability to build meaningful relationships with Work and Income referrals, training providers, and community partners to help people achieve sustainable work outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service, recruitment, sales, social services or related fields.
• Ability to build relationships with employers and partners.
• Self-driven and resilient in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Meet clients referred from Work and Income and focus on work-first employment pathways leading to financial independence.
• Create meaningful connections with local employers and businesses, government & industry/sector partners, disability support and other providers to seize opportunities for our jobseekers.
• Get to know your jobseekers, understand their stories, and foster trust so you can help them gain mahi aligned with their goals, experience and strengths.
• Help jobseekers upskill by identifying training needs and liaising with training providers to gain short course certification.

We're on the hunt for an Employment Consultant to join our vibrant team based in Auckland! This role is a fixed-term position covering maternity leave for 7 months. What You'll Do

• Meeting your clients that are referred from Work and income and focusing on work first employment pathways leading to financial independence.
• Creating meaningful connections with local employers and businesses, government & industry/sector partners, disability support and other providers to seize golden work opportunities for our jobseekers.
• Getting to know your jobseekers, understanding their stories, and fostering trust so that you can effectively help them gain mahi. aligned with their goals, experience and strengths.
• Helping jobseekers upskill by identifying training needs for their chosen industry/sector and liaising with training providers to gain short course certification.

Your background

• Current full NZ driver’s licence, must have reliable vehicle, reimbursement for work related travel is included
• Our Employment Consultants are selected from a wide range of careers -- including recruitment, social services, sales, business development, government and industry.
• Life skills, enthusiasm to help people, grit & resilience, and the ability to bring the best out of people are key attributes we look for.
• You will need to be self-driven, even entrepreneurial in your approach.
