Job summary

ProFound People Pty Ltd in Auckland is seeking an Embedded Systems Test Engineer to own the testing of software, firmware and hardware across products. You will build and maintain automated test suites, investigate faults on power-up or long runs, and work with engineers to improve reliability.

This full-time, hybrid role emphasizes replacing repetitive checks with automation, designing test benches, and applying AI tools to speed up test design and log analysis while understanding the fault

Qualifications

Commercial QA experience with both manual and automated testing.
Experience testing across multiple platforms (web, mobile, embedded).
Proficient in Python or similar scripting language.
Experience in Agile teams and sprint-based delivery.
Some exposure to AI tools in testing workflows.
Ability to work independently and communicate risks.
Tertiary study in software, computing, or related field.

Responsibilities

Develop test plans and test cases from product requirements, raising ambiguities early.
Carry out exploratory and scripted manual testing on new features and releases.
Investigate faults on physical devices with hardware and firmware engineers.
Expand automated regression coverage from web/API layers onto devices and integrate into build pipeline.
Contribute to design of automated test benches and fixtures replacing repetitive checks.
Write detailed defects for reproduction and see them through to fix.
Apply AI tooling to test design, script writing and log analysis, reviewing output critically.
