Job summary

Cardrona Alpine Resort is seeking a qualified Electrician to join our maintenance crew on a permanent, year-round basis. The role covers the mountain, lifts, buildings and electrical systems, with fault-finding and proactive maintenance a key part of daily duties.

You should have NZ electrical registration and experience across domestic, commercial and industrial systems, including large motors. Ski industry experience is a bonus but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be a qualified Electrician with NZ electrical registration.
• Experience across domestic, commercial and industrial electrical systems.
• Confident working with large AC/DC motors.
• Knowledge of fire detection systems and maintenance preferred.
• Mechanical mindset; able to diagnose and fix issues.
• Calm under pressure and able to juggle multiple tasks.

• Carry out fault-finding and proactive maintenance to keep operations running safely.

Job description

Electrician at Cardrona Alpine Resort in Cardrona, S, NZ. This Full time on site position offers great opportunities for career growth.

We’re looking for an experienced Electrician to join our Cardrona Maintenance crew in a permanent, year‑round role on the mountain. This definitely isn’t your average sparky job.

You’ll be working across the whole mountain, helping keep our lifts, buildings, machinery and electrical systems running safely and reliably throughout the year. You’ll often be one of the first up the hill in the morning, getting things ready for the day ahead, fault‑finding when something decides not to play ball, and working alongside a pretty great crew to keep the mountain moving.

We’re after someone who really knows their stuff, enjoys a challenge and is happy working in an environment where no two days are quite the same.

About you

• You’re a qualified and experienced Electrician with current NZ electrical registration and a practising licence.
• You’ve got solid experience across domestic, commercial and industrial electrical systems.
• You’re confident working with large AC and DC electric motors.
• You have knowledge of fire detection systems and maintenance.
• You’re mechanically minded and enjoy figuring out how things work - and how to fix them when they don’t.
• You can stay calm under pressure, prioritise a few jobs at once and get stuck in when things get busy.
• You’re a team player, easy to work with and always happy to lend a hand.
• Ski industry experience would be a bonus, but strong electrical experience is what really counts.
