Job summary

Cardrona Ski Resort Ltd is seeking a casual/seasonal Ski Patrol team member to help keep guests and staff safe on the mountain. You will work across trail operations, emergency response, incident management and mountain safety, with responsibilities including opening and closing trails and supporting rescues.

The role requires 2 years of patrol experience in ski or bike environments, a valid NZ driver license, and current First Responder or EMT qualifications.

• Current PHEC or equivalent, First Responder or EMT qualification.
• Strong mountain biking and technical mountain skills.
• Valid NZ Driver Licence or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Open and close trails.
• Respond to medical incidents on the mountain.
• Provide trail advice and monitor conditions.
• Support rescues and coordinate with external emergency providers.

Job description

Dirt Patrol plays a key role in keeping guests and staff safe on the mountain. You’ll work across trail operations, guest assistance, medical response, incident management and mountain safety.

Your day may include opening and closing trails, responding to medical incidents, providing trail advice, monitoring conditions, supporting rescues and working alongside external emergency providers.

What You’ll Bring

Minimum 2 years’ mountain/patrol experience in a ski or bike environment.

Current PHEC or equivalent, First Responder or EMT qualification.

Strong mountain biking and technical mountain skills.

Valid NZ Driver Licence or equivalent.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Sound understanding of weather, hazards and mountain operations.

Ability to stay calm under pressure and work independently.

Physically fit and comfortable working in challenging outdoor environments.

4WD, chairlift evacuation, rope systems and helicopter experience are advantageous.

Most importantly, you’re energetic, proactive, approachable and keen to learn. You’ll be someone who takes pride in looking after our guests, our crew and our maunga.
