Job summary

Stellar Recruitment in Christchurch is seeking an Electrical Trade Assistant to join a major commercial project delivering the Timaru Museum and Theatre developments. You will work alongside experienced electrical tradespeople installing mains and control cabling, mechanical services switchboards and BMS controls.

This role offers long-term work, weekly pay, and the chance to develop essential electrical industry skills within a supportive, safety-focused team.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Electrical Trade Assistant.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Experience with cable installation and containment systems.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Site Safe Passport preferred.
• Reliable transport and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Assist with mains and control cable installation
• Support electrical works for mechanical equipment
• Support electrical works for hydraulic equipment
• Install cable tray, brackets and wiring supports
• Assist with mechanical services switchboards and BMS controls
• Read plans, drawings and specifications
• Complete cable laying, rough-ins and equipment positioning
• Operate hand and power tools safely
