Job summary

Ministry of Education New Zealand in Hamilton is seeking a Psychologist to join our Learning Support team for 11 months in a full-time fixed-term role. You will identify patterns affecting learning, wellbeing and behaviour and provide specialist assessment to inform interventions.

You will work with schools, teachers and families, translate specialist knowledge into practical guidance, and collaborate in a trans-disciplinary team to support children and young people across diverse settings.

Qualifications

• Masters level qualification required.
• Registered under Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act with current practising certificate.
• Ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information.
• Ability to co-ordinate service provision in a multi-agency, trans-disciplinary setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across diverse settings.
• Willingness to adhere to Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Identify patterns influencing learning, wellbeing and behaviour.
• Enhance inclusive practices in early learning services, schools and other settings.
• Provide professional support and guidance to schools, teachers and families and build capacity of those who support learning.
• Provide in-depth specialist assessment and analysis for evidenced informed interventions.
• Work as part of a trans-disciplinary team for complex needs.
