New Zealand Government Joba is seeking a Speech Language Therapist for a fixed-term, full-time role based in the Lower Hutt office, covering parental leave from January 2027 to July 2027. You will work within the Learning Support team to support children and families across home, school and community settings.

The role requires a degree in Speech-Language Therapy (Bachelor’s or Master’s) with knowledge of child development, language, and learning, plus strong collaboration and communication

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities across families, teachers and specialists.
  • Ability to translate clinical knowledge into practical information for diverse settings.
  • Experience coordinating services in multi-agency contexts.
  • Understanding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and applying them in practice.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the impact of children and young people's communication needs in home, school and community.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers and specialists to support speech and language development.
  • Work within a trans-disciplinary team to address complex needs of children.
