Job summary

Kumaravine - Celebrating Māori & Pasifika success invites a Speech Language Therapist to join our Learning Support team in Henderson/Waitakere City. This permanent, full-time role focuses on assessing and supporting children’s speech, language and communication within home, school and community settings.

You will collaborate with families, teachers and other specialists to translate knowledge into practical support, while upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech-Language Therapy or equivalent meeting NZ Speech-Language Therapists' Association requirements.
• Specialist knowledge of theory, research and practice related to speech-language, child development and learning.
• Ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information for families and educators.
• Ability to coordinate service provision in a multi-agency, trans-disciplinary setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse children, families and teachers.
• Understanding and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in practice.

Responsibilities

• Assess and understand the impact of children and young people’s communication needs in home, school and community contexts.
• Collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers and other specialists to support development of speech, language and communication skills.
• Work holistically within a trans-disciplinary team to meet complex needs.
