Job summary

The University of Auckland is seeking an Editor - Digital Content to join our Communications team and bring stories from across the University to life through engaging, high-quality digital content. This hands-on role covers video, photography, podcasting, and other formats from concept through to filming, editing, publication, and promotion.

You will showcase people, research, discoveries, and ideas shaping the University, supporting media opportunities and audience engagement across Aotearoa

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in multimedia storytelling, journalism, communications, digital media, video production or a related field.
• Proven experience creating high-quality digital and multimedia content, particularly video, photography, podcasting and digital publishing.
• Strong technical skills in video production, photography, editing and digital content production, from idea to publication.
• Good understanding of how people consume digital content and how to adapt stories for different audiences, platforms and channels.
• Sound editorial judgement and a strong eye for accuracy, accessibility, detail and quality.
• Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills with academics, researchers, and professional staff.

Responsibilities

• Create compelling digital stories across video, photography, podcasting, and other multimedia formats.
• Find and develop stories that support University priorities, media opportunities, reputation, and strategic communications.
• Take stories from concept to publication, including filming, photography, audio recording, video editing, production, and digital publishing.
• Keep up with digital trends, emerging technologies, AI, platforms and changing audience behaviours.
• Provide digital and multimedia advice, helping colleagues develop content that is engaging, accessible, and fit for purpose.
