Job summary

Auckland Zoo is seeking a capable Team Leader - Ectotherms to guide the specialist Ectotherms team, ensuring high standards of care and innovative habitat design. You’ll lead people, animals and facilities, drive field conservation initiatives and contribute to education and science outcomes, in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

The role requires a strong track record in zoo management, staff development and effective communication, with weekend/holiday work and a passion

Qualifications

• Relevant biology/conservation degree or Zookeeping certificate.
• Eight years' zoo experience or more.
• Experience in line management, recruitment and staff development.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop and support the ectotherms team.
• Oversee standards of animal care, habitat design and species planning.
• Collaborate on exhibit planning, visitor experiences and conservation advocacy.
• Develop opportunities for field conservation, research and scientific publication.
