Job summary

BestStart Ponsonby is seeking an inspiring Head Teacher to lead our Babies Cottage team and to role model high-quality teaching. You will mentor colleagues and ensure an inspiring, responsive learning environment centered on every child’s needs.

This permanent 40-hour-per-week role requires a BEd/DT (ECE) Level 7 and NZ Teacher Registration, with leadership experience, strong planning/assessment skills, and a passion for infants’ development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Education/Diploma in Teaching (ECE) Level 7 and current New Zealand Teacher Registration.
• Previous leadership experience or the confidence to step into a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of programme planning, assessment, pedagogy, and the curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Babies Cottage team and role model high-quality teaching practices.
• Mentor and support colleagues to foster professional growth.
• Ensure learning environments are inspiring, responsive, and child-centered.
• Maintain compliance with Te Whāriki and NZ ECE Regulations.
