Job summary

BestStart Birkdale is seeking an Education Administrator/Head Teacher to lead two infant rooms (up to 24 pēpi). You will mentor a teaching team, model high-quality practice, and ensure a child-led, play-based learning environment with strong planning, assessment, and curriculum development.

A genuine passion for infants and collaborative leadership are essential. The role is permanent, full-time (40 hours/week), Monday to Friday, based at BestStart Birkdale with a focus on relationships,

Qualifications

• BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) with Full Teacher Certification.
• Knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations and compliance.
• Experience in programme planning, assessment and curriculum development.
• Ability to lead and mentor a teaching team.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Head Teacher to lead our two infant rooms, caring for up to 24 pēpi.

As Head Teacher, you’ll lead, mentor and inspire a dedicated teaching team, while role modelling high-quality practice and supporting a child-led, play-based approach to learning. You’ll bring confidence and knowledge to the role, ensuring strong programme planning, assessment and curriculum development, while maintaining high standards of compliance and care.

This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

You’ll bring:

• A BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) qualification and Full Teacher Certification

• Strong understanding of programme planning, assessment and curriculum development
