Job summary

TOMRA is looking for a Junior Electrical Design & Automation Engineer in Auckland for graduates or early-career engineers. You’ll learn electrical design, control systems, and project delivery while supporting real customer projects across APAC.

You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, gain hands-on experience from design to commissioning, and grow into automation, commissioning, and advanced control projects as your skills progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Exposure to electrical design and automation projects.
• Interest in testing, commissioning, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and documentation of electrical systems, including drawings, wiring diagrams, and project documentation.
• Assist with the selection and integration of electrical components, sensors, motors, and control equipment used across customer projects.
• Gain exposure to automation and control systems through testing, troubleshooting, configuration, and ongoing improvement activities.
• Help create and maintain engineering templates, tools, and documentation that support efficient project delivery.
• Support project engineers in delivering customer solutions from design through to testing, commissioning, and project handover.
• Participate in system setup, customer installations, testing, and troubleshooting activities across the full project lifecycle.
• Work alongside experienced engineers on design reviews, technical problem-solving, and systems integration activities.
• Assist with maintaining technical documentation, engineering records, and user guides that support successful project outcomes.
• Promote a "Safety First" culture throughout the company, our customers, and our industry.
