Job summary

New Zealand Venue Co. is seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join Astrolabe in Mt Maunganui. If you love hospitality, leading a busy team, and delivering standout guest experiences, this is your next step.

You will support the Venue Manager, lead shifts, coach staff, manage health and safety, handle cash-ups and reporting, and help onboard new team members. Requires Duty Manager Certificate, LCQ, and 2+ years in hospitality; full-time, 30+ hours per week.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a bar, restaurant, or customer-facing hospitality role.
• Current Duty Manager Certificate and LCQ.
• Confident, friendly leadership style with strong communication skills.
• Flexible availability across a 7-day roster (days, nights, and weekends).

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Venue Manager with the day-to-day running of Astrolabe.
• Leading shifts, motivating the team, and providing real-time coaching.
• Delivering warm, memorable service to locals and visitors.
• Managing compliance, health & safety, and licensed premises requirements.
• Handling core financial tasks including cash-ups, labour control, and end-of-day reporting.
• Assisting with onboarding, training, and developing new team members.

What We're Looking For
