Job summary

New Zealand Government in Dunedin is seeking a Supervising Customs Officer to lead our airport team and drive performance across border operations. You will coach and mentor staff, manage shift coverage, and ensure alignment with the border protection strategy in a hands-on leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Customs Officers and be accountable for performance against the port strategy.
• Develop and coach team members through mentoring and training opportunities.
• Manage team performance and support career development goals.
• Identify and mitigate operational risks.
• Collaborate with border partners, the Police and Port authorities for enforcement actions when required.
• Represent Customs within the port and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Promote and maintain a safe and healthy working environment in line with policies.
