Job summary

IAG in Auckland is seeking a Document Testing & Automation Specialist to ensure the quality and reliability of customer communications produced via the SmartCOMMs platform.

You will design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks, execute API and end-to-end tests, validate XML/JSON data, and mentor junior QA teammates while advancing AI-enabled testing and modern quality practices across Agile teams.

• Validate XML/JSON data, troubleshoot failures, and support defect resolution.
• Collaborate with Analysts, Developers, PO and stakeholders on requirements.
• Contribute to test planning, risk assessments and release readiness.

We are seeking an experienced Document Testing & Automation Specialist to ensure the quality, accuracy, and reliability of customer communications delivered through the Smart Communications (SmartCOMMs) platform. This role focuses on developing and maintaining automated testing solutions, validating communications across multiple channels, and driving quality engineering best practices.

The successful candidate will contribute to automation modernisation initiatives, leverage AI-enabled testing capabilities, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality customer communication outcomes.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland)

• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and solutions to improve product quality, efficiency, and release confidence.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, API, and end-to-end testing to validate complex business processes and customer communications.
• Validate XML/JSON data, troubleshoot test failures, analyse results, and support root cause investigation and defect resolution.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business, regulatory, and customer requirements.
• Contribute to test planning, risk assessments, release readiness activities, and continuous improvement initiatives across Agile delivery teams.
• Drive quality engineering best practices, automation innovation, AI-enabled testing, and mentor junior QA team members.
• Strong hands-on experience with BDD/Cucumber-based automation frameworks.
• Proven experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing automation frameworks.
• Solid understanding of Git, source control practices, branching strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with API testing, REST services, and service integration validation.
• Strong knowledge of XML, JSON, and data validation techniques.
• Experience using Jira, Xray, or similar test management and defect tracking tools.
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and modern quality engineering practices.
• Knowledge of Smart Communications (SmartCOMMs) or similar customer communication management platforms, nice to have.
