Job summary

Summerset Rototuna village in Hamilton is seeking a Diversional Therapist to create and lead recreational programmes for seniors in a care setting. You will design personalised plans and therapeutic activities to promote independence, dignity and social connection.

You’ll collaborate with care teams, monitor progress, and manage monthly activity budgets, with a roster Monday to Friday 9:00–17:30. This permanent full-time role supports residents’ wellbeing.

Qualifications

• National Certificate in Diversional Therapy (Level 4) or 3+ years relevant experience.
• Excellent planning and time management with a proactive mindset.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• First Aid certificate or willingness to complete.
• Full clean driver’s licence and ability to drive a Mobility Van.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Plan and run individual and group activities that are purposeful and enjoyable.
• Support residents to participate in social life of the Care Centre and village.
• Collaborate with team to extend activities across the village.
• Monitor and report resident progress and maintain activity records.
• Manage monthly activity programme budgets with approval from Village Manager.
