Epsom Girls Grammar School, Te Kura Tuarua o Ngā Taitamāhine o Maungawhau, is a school that strives for excellence: in performance, in the connections between people and in its pastoral supports. As a school we have always taken girls’ education seriously and, in all that we do, we seek to grow women of great character. In our kura we value courage, aroha, community, and manawa reka, and these values are woven through our words and our actions – from a governance level through to a classroom and co-curricular level, as well as in informal interactions on campus, and in the community.
We are a large, urban school for girls, with a current role of 2,300 students. Our expert staff teach towards the national qualification, NCEA, and we also offer Cambridge International courses and learning (where appropriate). We have a large co-curricular programme of sports, visual and performing arts, cultural expression as well as charity and service opportunities. Our staff are expected to take an active role in supporting the co-curricular programme of the school, by coaching or managing teams and groups.
We seek an experienced educator who can lead Epsom house, the boarding facility of the school. Epsom house has around 140 boarders aged from 13 to 18 years, resident 7 days a week during school terms.
The director of boarding is responsible for the leadership of the boarding house as well as being an active member of the school community. The successful applicant will work with the house staff and the senior leadership team, to provide a supportive and safe environment for our boarding students. Connecting the boarding house to the school is important to us so if you're a teacher, state your specialist teaching subject(s).
Accommodation may be available to the successful candidate.
