Job summary

OfficeMax New Zealand in Auckland is seeking a Direct Ship Team Lead to oversee day-to-day operations, coordinate workflow, and escalate issues.

You will coach a high-performing team, manage supplier and customer interactions, and drive process improvements to enhance service levels. Hybrid working in Highbrook, Mon-Fri 8:30-5pm, with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in Direct Ship, logistics, customer service or supply chain.
• Demonstrated experience leading or coaching others.
• Strong understanding of Direct Ship processes.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills.

The Role - Direct Ship Team Lead

As a Direct Ship Team Lead, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the team, coordinating workflow, managing escalated cases, and identifying opportunities to automate and improve processes. You'll support and lift the teams’ capabilities through coaching, development conversations, and performance reviews, nurturing a high-performing team that delivers exceptional service to our customers and suppliers.

The team manages a broad portfolio of responsibilities, from supplier direct ship enquiries and receipting through to inventory resolution and end-to-end process coordination.

Leveraging your leadership experience and continuous improvement mindset, you'll drive operational excellence, support strategic growth, and help deliver more solutions for our business customers across Aotearoa.

Your Key Responsibilities Are

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach and develop the Direct Ship Representatives.
• Allocate work across the team to achieve service levels and productivity targets.
• Monitor workloads and reprioritise work where required.

Direct Ship Operations

• Maintain an active portfolio of Direct Ship work, including customer and supplier matters.
• Act as the first point of escalation for operational issues.
• Ensure service standards and quality expectations are achieved.
• Support reporting requirements and operational performance.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and workflows.
• Identify and champion automation opportunities that improve efficiency, accuracy and customer outcomes.
• Monitor operational trends and recommend improvements.

What You Will Bring

• Tertiary qualification in Business, Technology or equivalent.
• 3–5 years' experience in Direct Ship, logistics, customer service or supply chain.
• Demonstrated experience leading or coaching others.
• Strong understanding of Direct Ship processes.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong customer and supplier relationship skills.
• Experience with ERP, CRM and Microsoft Office applications.
