Hail is seeking a Digital Designer to maintain and grow the marketing website from the Ministry of Awesome in Christchurch. You will design web and marketing content, keep WordPress pages updated, and support sales and campaigns.

To support Hail's growth by creating high-quality digital experiences across our marketing, sales and product.
The Digital Designer will take a practical, hands-on approach to maintaining Hail's online presence, creating web and marketing content, supporting sales initiatives and providing visual design support across the business.
Hail Marketing Website
Take the lead in maintaining and regularly updating the Hail marketing website.
Ensure website content reflects Hail's latest products, features, services and messaging.
Create new website pages and imagery to showcase our products, campaigns and initiatives.
Edit pages using WordPress and other web authoring tools.
Work with the wider team to turn supplied content into engaging posts and illustrations.
Review existing pages and recommend improvements to layout, presentation and design.
Design and build websites and web pages using Hail's internal web design tools and WordPress.
Create page layouts that are clear, modern and easy to use.
Build new pages from supplied content, imagery and brand direction.
Select and structure page components to create strong visual hierarchy and flow.
Update and refine existing WordPress websites.
Ensure pages work well across desktop, tablet and mobile.
Apply consistent branding, typography, imagery and spacing across websites.
Identify opportunities to improve the usability, presentation and consistency of web experiences.
Create graphics and sales collateral using tools such as Canva.
Support marketing campaigns with digital design and visual assets.
Create presentations, promotional material and other resources to support sales activity.
Help turn ideas and messages into visually engaging content.
Support the launch and promotion of new Hail products and services.
Produce digital assets suitable for web, email, presentations and social media.
Actively use AI tools to support design, content creation and prototyping.
Explore new digital and AI design tools that can improve the speed and quality of work.
Help the wider team identify practical ways AI can improve creative and design workflows.
We are looking for someone who is creative, practical and comfortable working across a variety of digital projects.
Strong digital design skills and a good eye for layout and presentation.
Experience creating and maintaining websites.
Ideally (but not essential) experience using WordPress or similar web content management systems.
Confidence using Canva and other digital design tools.
Ability to turn supplied content into engaging digital layouts.
An interest in AI and emerging creative technologies.
Ability to work across several projects and priorities.
Strong attention to detail.
Experience working with technology businesses or digital products would be an advantage. All candidates will be asked to show a portfolio of designs.
Creative with a strong eye for design.
Understands audiences and how design can make information easier to understand.
Practical and happy to get hands-on with projects.
Curious and willing to experiment with new technology and AI tools.
Organised and able to manage competing priorities.
Comfortable working collaboratively across different teams.
Able to take an idea or brief and turn it into something tangible.
Open to feedback and comfortable refining work.
Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks.

Updating the Hail website with information about a newly released feature.
Creating a new landing page for a marketing campaign.
Creating a presentation for an upcoming customer or industry event.
Designing graphics in Canva for a sales campaign.
Improving the layout and presentation of an existing website page.
Using AI tools to explore concepts or accelerate the creation of digital content.
Helping another member of the Hail team with a design requirement.

This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9.00am-5.00pm, based with the Hail team at Ministry of Awesome in Christchurch. Flexible working hours are available for the right person.
