Job summary

Automotive Employment in Wellington is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic for a leading truck franchise dealership. You will service and repair diesel engines and heavy‑duty truck systems across commercial fleets in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Relevant automotive trade qualification, preferably as a Diesel Mechanic.
• Experience as a Diesel Mechanic, ideally within a dealership or similar environment.
• Experience with late-model trucks.
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service and repair diesel engines and heavy-duty truck systems.
• Maintain and repair electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Complete engine, brake, steering, COF and accident repairs.
• Utilise modern diagnostic equipment to accurately identify faults and carry out repairs.
• Work closely with Service Advisors and workshop colleagues to achieve efficient job turnaround.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and reliability.

Skills and experience sought

• Relevant automotive trade qualification, preferably as a Diesel Mechanic
• Proven experience working as a Diesel Mechanic, ideally within a dealership or similar environment
• Experience with late-model trucks
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent mechanical knowledge and attention to detail
• Confidence using modern diagnostic equipment and technology
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Sound knowledge of diesel engines and truck systems, including brakes, hydraulics and electrical systems
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a busy team environment
