Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a curious, motivated apprentice for our East Tamaki workshop in Auckland. You will enrol in the NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Level 3 & 4) through MITO and, after achieving the diesel certificate, progress to the NZ Certificate in Electric Vehicle Automotive Engineering (Level 5).

Qualifications

  • Willing to enroll in NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Level 3 & 4) programme.
  • Onsite workshop role with long-term training plan.
  • Has a proactive, safety-first approach.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain pace in technical courses while carrying out routine service, maintenance, and repairs on Waste Management heavy vehicles.
  • Carry out diagnostics & troubleshooting of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct diagnostics of components using specialist tools and equipment.
  • Complete detailed service reporting and manufacturers documentation.
