Job summary

WM New Zealand invites applications for an Apprentice Diesel Technician role at our state‑of‑the‑art workshop in East Tamaki, Auckland. You will begin in the NZ Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering (Levels 3 & 4) through MITO and progress to the EV Automotive Engineering (Level 5) after achieving your certificate.

The programme spans approximately 3–5 years, with onsite support, tools provided, and structured assessment.

Qualifications

  • Curious, hard worker with high attention to detail.
  • Hands-on type who enjoys working with machinery and technology.
  • Adopts a Safety First mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain pace in technical courses while carrying out routine service, maintenance, and repairs on WM heavy vehicles.
  • Carry out diagnostics & troubleshooting of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct diagnostics of components using specialist tools and equipment.
  • Complete detailed service reporting and manufacturers documentation.

Full Class 1 Driver's Licence
