Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Dunedin seeks a Clinical Nurse Specialist to lead advanced dialysis care across home, community, outpatient and hospital settings. You’ll work within the Southern Dialysis Service alongside a CNS team to support patients through their dialysis journey.

The role emphasises autonomous practice, clinical excellence and progression toward Nurse Practitioner pathways, with a pro rata salary band and 0.8 FTE.

Qualifications

• RN with renal, dialysis or complex acute-care experience.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to advancing nursing practice toward CNS/Nurse Practitioner pathways.

Responsibilities

• Providing advanced assessment, clinical decision-making and specialist dialysis care.
• Supporting home haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis through clinics, home visits, training and ongoing review.
• Providing specialist input for complex and acutely unwell dialysis patients.
• Coordinating care across home, community and hospital settings.
• Providing specialist advice, education and coaching to patients, whānau and staff.
• Leading quality improvement and new models of care; championing culturally safe, patient-centred care.
