Job summary

CGR Services is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our Christchurch team on a hybrid basis. You will own and improve CI/CD pipelines, design cloud infrastructure across multiple regions on AWS, and drive reliability with modern IaC and automation practices.

In this role you will manage production observability, participate in on-call rotations, and collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to enable AI-assisted SDLC tooling and secure, scalable platform operations.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of experience building and operating production infrastructure environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including multi-region deployments, IAM, networking, and managed services.
• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Proven experience owning CI/CD pipelines, release automation, deployment strategies, and release gating processes.
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration technologies in production environments.
• Strong experience with observability, monitoring, alerting systems, and service reliability engineering practices.
• Experience managing production incidents and participating in on-call rotations.
• Daily usage of AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve CI/CD pipeline reliability and deployment automation across multiple teams.
• Design, build, and operate secure, scalable cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Collaborate with architecture teams to implement modern developer platforms and AI-accelerated tooling.
• Manage production observability, monitoring, and incident response processes for shared infrastructure.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive reliability improvements.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code and cloud automation practices.
• Support disaster recovery, networking, and security initiatives.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure platform operations.
