Job summary

Tauranga City Council is seeking an engineer to join our team in a varied role that focuses on development engineering within the building consent process. You will assess technical matters across building consent applications, including geotechnical matters, natural hazards, stormwater, and structural engineering as part of a wider workload.

You will work with applicants, engineers, planners, asset managers and council teams to ensure compliant outcomes, manage assignments through the

Qualifications

• Engineering degree Level 8 recognised under the Washington Accord.
• Ability to review geotechnical, natural hazard, infrastructure data.
• Ability to explain complex technical matters clearly.
• Structural engineering knowledge for consent assessments.
• Build effective relationships with applicants and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Building Act and Building Code, or capacity to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assess geotechnical matters, natural hazards, stormwater and infrastructure in consent apps.
• Provide engineering review, technical assessment and clear advice.
• Manage assigned applications through the engineering review process.
• Collaborate with applicants, engineers, planners, asset managers and Council teams.
• Assess structural aspects and undertake 2D/3D analysis where appropriate.
