Job summary

Tauranga City Council is seeking a Development Engineer to assess engineering matters across a range of building consent applications. You'll be part of a team with Development and Structural Engineers, reviewing geotechnical considerations, natural hazards, landforms, stormwater management and related infrastructure to ensure proposals meet legislative requirements and Council standards.

Your work will cover advising on technical information, managing applications through the engineering

Qualifications

• Civil engineering degree or equivalent Level 7 qualification.
• Engineering experience in civil, geotechnical, land development, infrastructure or another relevant area.
• Knowledge of Building Act, Building Code and relevant engineering standards, or the ability to build this knowledge in the role.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing building consent applications and advising on geotechnical matters, natural hazards, landforms, stormwater management, infrastructure and relevant standards.
• Managing assigned applications through the engineering review process, including technical assessment, providing advice, and maintaining accurate consent records.
• Working with applicants, engineers, consultants, planners, asset managers, building owners and Council teams to achieve compliant outcomes.
• Identifying when further information or design changes are needed and clearly explaining what applicants need to provide.
• Sharing knowledge and helping improve systems and processes for assessing the engineering aspects of building consent applications.
