Job summary

Electric Kiwi is seeking a Developer Productivity Engineer to enhance our internal developer platform and reduce friction in building, testing and shipping software. You’ll work hands-on with CI/CD, automation, and AI-enabled tooling to speed delivery and improve developer experience across engineering teams.

You’ll partner with platform engineers to evolve GitLab-driven workflows, measure delivery metrics, and create self-service capabilities that empower teams to move faster with higher

Responsibilities

• Evolve the internal developer platform with GitLab at the core.

• Collaborate with engineers to design practical improvements that boost velocity and quality.

About the role

We're looking for a Developer Productivity Engineer to help make it better for our engineering teams by improving our developer platform, removing friction, and helping us ship great software faster.

If you love developer tooling, automation, CI/CD, and finding smarter ways to work, this could be a bit of you. You'll stay hands-on, experiment with AI and new tech, and turn good ideas into improvements our developers actually feel.

Success in this role means faster, more reliable software delivery, better self-service tooling, and measurable improvements in developer experience across our engineering teams.

This role will suit someone with strong experience in platform engineering, DevOps, internal developer platforms, or software engineering enablement, who loves improving how engineers build, test and ship software.

What you'll do:

• Help evolve our internal developer platform, with GitLab at the heart of how our engineering teams build and deliver software
• Find friction in the developer experience and turn it into practical improvements that make it easier and faster for our teams to get things done
• Improve workflows across the software delivery lifecycle through automation, reliable CI/CD pipelines and self-service tooling
• Use developer experience and delivery metrics to spot bottlenecks, measure improvements and help teams make better decisions
• Work alongside engineering teams to understand what's slowing them down and build solutions that improve velocity, quality and developer experience
• Share what you learn through documentation, code reviews and training, helping good ideas and better ways of working spread across our teams

The kind of tech you'll work with

You’ll work with tools and technologies such as GitLab, Python, Terraform, Docker, APIs, JavaScript and data/reporting tools. Experience across all of these isn't essential - we care more about how you've used technology to improve software delivery and developer experience.
